Our personal trainers are highly experienced and seasoned professionals.  Personal training is available to both members and non-members in various fitness areas to accelerate your training needs.  Private, semi-private, trio and small group rates and packages are available in these areas: Pilates, Yoga, Personal Fitness Training – Strength, Cardiovascular, Flexibility, Fitness Testing, and Sports Enhancement.

Jerome is ACE certified in both Personal Training and Health Coaching.  Jerome has been working in the fitness industry since 1995.  He works with a broad range of clients focusing on weight loss, general fitness, high school/college athletics and lifestyle changes.  Jerome believes that setting achievable goals, making sensible dietary changes and committing to a realistic fitness routine will create significant and lasting results.

Tom has lived in the Oak Park area for 20+ years, is certified as Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise, and holds B.A. and M.B.A. degrees.  He works with a wide continuum of clients, from individuals just starting to “get back into shape” to very fit athletes. Tom considers himself a longtime fitness student!  With many years of resistance training and aerobic exercise experience, he has coached and trained hundreds of young people and adults over the years.  With a style that is upbeat, supportive, knowledgeable and patient, Tom is comfortable coaching youth sports a well, including ice hockey, soccer, baseball, and softball.  As a runner and tennis player, with many years participating in local events,Tom is well-prepared to understand the issues and challenges of these activities.

A 20+ year veteran in the personal training industry, and has held many certifications over the span of his career. Darryl sank his teeth into fitness as a career while attending college at the University of Colorado in their personal training program. He worked as ski instructor at one of the nation’s best handicap ski resorts, Winter Park.  Darryl has also acquired a license as an emergency technician. Long before cross-training was big, Darryl was using his experience to multisport-train his clients. He, as with many TFC trainers, believes core training is the key to efficient movement and can help all to improve their fitness level no matter what age or level.

Anja’s passion for the fitness industry resulted from her challenge as a young mother living with cancer. In 1996, out of high dose chemo treatment, she enrolled in an aqua aerobics class. Anja fought the odds and decided to share her journey as an educator in the health and fitness Industry. Today she teaches innovative fitness classes and youth sports school teams.  Anja’s private clients receive frequent motivation and understanding of their individual needs. She has helped her clients to achieve their goals in weight loss training, agility training, progressive rehab training, and conscious fitness training.

Due to her experience as a cancer survivor, Anja has acquired a deeper understanding for the body’s limitations and its impact on emotional health, leading to a unique, sensitive approach when working with other cancer patients and survivors.

Anja’s expertise is in Pilates and Yoga. She holds certifications in Advanced Stott Pilates, as well as Yoga Alliance  and Yoga for Cancer Survivors. Other certifications include NIA- blue belt, Aqua Aerobics, Spinning, Moms in Motion (pre-, post-natal) and Reiki Level III. She has over 15 years teaching experience.

Ellen holds a Master’s degree in Applied Exercise Physiology, and has been an A.C.E.-certified personal trainer since 1998, an A.C.S.M.-certified Fitness and Health Specialist Since 2005, and a certified Cancer and Exercise Specialist since 2007.  Ellen believes that the body and its systems must be considered as a whole, rather than as isolated parts to be worked individually.  She likes to work with her clients to develop plans that help them to improve function and fitness, athletic movements, and proper biomechanics while addressing any existing imbalances. Finding the right balance of intensity levels, challenge and recovery can also be keys to success. Ellen likes to help her clients recognize obstacles to their fitness goals and guide them toward finding solutions that lead to their best outcomes.

An A.C.E.-certified Personal Trainer for over 2 years.  With his friendly personality, Mike is a natural for working with children and young adults, making him a favorite for assisting with parties and events.  His passions include sports of all types and running, and he excels at working with the hard-to-train.  His training philosophy is “never stop learning”.  Mike is a Licensed Massage Therapist, and available by appointment.

Amy was born and raised in Reese, MI, and went on to attend Central Michigan University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, majoring in Mathematics and minoring in English, Coaching, and Middle Level Education in 2012.  After completing her student teaching experience in Australia, Amy moved to Muncie, IN to attend Graduate School at Ball State University as the Graduate Assistant of Aquatics and Fitness for the Office of Recreation Services.  Upon graduating with her Masters in Sports Administration in May 2014, Amy accepted a position at Eastern Kentucky University as the Assistant Director of Fitness with Campus Recreation.  Amy has been teaching group fitness for the past 5 years, teaching Zumba®, Turbo Kick®, INSANITY®, Yoga, TRX®, Cycling, Aqua Aerobics, and a variety of other strength training formats in additions to personal training.  Amy is passionate about fitness and excited to be back in the Midwest!

Cuffey graduated from the National Personal Training Institute in April 2015, and became NASM Certified in May.  He has been a U.S.A. Gymnastics Professional member since 2011.  Cuffey’s professional philosophy stems from the Zia belief, to develop a healthy body, a pure spirit, a clear mind and a devotion to the welfare of the community.  His goals are to help his community through fitness, nutritional education and lifestyle changes.  “Keep learning and burning!”

Lisa Tanzer is pleased to share her love for all forms of fitness with TFC members and clients.  With over 20 years of experience teaching fitness and healthy lifestyles, she has a widely diverse repertoire of activities and programs to draw upon.  Lisa’s formal education includes a Master’s degree in Anatomy, Neurobiology and Cell Biology from Loyola University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University.  A Personal Trainer for over 15 years (A.C.E.), she is also holds a Certified Medical Exercise Specialist certificate  (CMES), that assures standards in working with those with special health challenges (diabetes, hypertension, asthma, etc.), and who may be transitioning out of clinical rehab settings.

Other areas of expertise include:  Pilates Mat, Spinning, Rehabilitative Exercise and more.  Lisa explores the most satisfying active lifestyle plans possible for her client’s circumstances and physical limitations.  With a strong emphasis on core strength and balance, she believes in “functional fitness”, making people better able to meet the demands of daily life- not just of sports.  Lisa also loves to stimulate the energy that Group Fitness classes should be all about.  While safety is always foremost, her classes are fun!  A variety of music, props, dancing and games keep them interesting and challenging.  Lisa is currently available as a Class Instructor, Personal Trainer and Fitness Consultant.  Visit one of her classes today or contact her for a free Personal Training consultation.  Some openings currently available, including afternoons and weekends.

I have a passion for helping others find their full potential in health and wellness.  I enjoy working with middle-aged women seeking to find a healthy weight management program for overall physical, mental and spiritual balance.  Functional training, strength and core are key to longevity.  I received my certification from the International Sports and Sciences Association (ISSA) in December 2015.  I have been coaching and instructing clients at various church affiliates for 5 + years teaching strength and core workouts with a desire to empower others towards a healthy quality of life.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame at DePaul University for Track and Field, I now enjoy running 5K and Half Marathons for strength and conditioning workouts.
